Il n’a pas réfléchi à la manière de restaurer le pacte social face à la globalisation financière et se satisfait de mesures pour acheter la paix sociale à court terme. Dès sa nomination, il a montré qu’il ne voulait pas réformer la classe politique, qu’il se contentait de lutter contre la pandémie en faisant comme les autres, et qu’il soutenait le projet maastrichien conçu durant la Guerre froide.

">L’économie libanaise s’est effondrée en sept mois. Les habitants commencent à souffrir de la faim. Une solution est possible si l’on analyse correctement les causes du problème. Encore faut-il accepter de reconnaître ses erreurs et de distinguer ce qui est structurel de ce qui ressort des problèmes régionaux. Il est vain et diffamatoire d’accuser l’ennemi traditionnel (Israël) ou l’allié brutal (les États-Unis) d’avoir causé un problème qui dure depuis des siècles et devient à ce point anachronique.
