with in the confrontation between the

western-leaning capitalist class and the tide of

people&#8217;s movements which have swung into

power. Unsurprisingly, the crackdown in Honduras

against progressive media such as <i>Telesur</i>

came right on cue, in a situation analogous to

that of the April 2002 coup in Venezuela when the

short-lived right-wing government swiftly muzzled

all dissident voices.  Should Zelaya return to

power in Honduras, one of his major challenges

will be to tackle the powerful privately-owned TV

and radio networks, which have come to the fore as

cheerleaders and apologists for the coup

government and the interests it

represents.</p></span>
