">Στον πόλεμο του Καραμπάχ, το σύγχρονο δίκαιο είναι αντιφατικό ανάλογα με το εάν ερμηνεύεται με όρους ιδιοκτησίας της επικράτειας ή της αυτοδιάθεσης του λαού. Εκμεταλλευόμενος αυτή την ασάφεια, ο τουρκικός λαός (δηλαδή τόσο η Τουρκία όσο και το Αζερμπαϊτζάν) μόλις επιτέθηκε σε αυτή τη αυτοαποκαλούμενη ανεξάρτητη επικράτεια (Αρτσάχ) αν και de facto συνδεδεμένη με την Αρμενία. Η Ρωσία έχει ήδη γνωστοποιήσει ότι, ανάλογα με τις Συνθήκες, θα υπερασπιστεί την Αρμενία εάν επιτεθεί, αλλά η εθνική της ασφάλεια δεν επηρεάζεται από αυτό που συμβαίνει στο Καραμπάχ. Επομένως, το μόνο ερώτημα είναι να εξακριβώσουμε εάν η Τουρκία ενήργησε σύμφωνα με τις εντολές των Δυτικών, ή εάν ανέλαβε μια πρωτοβουλία την οποία οι ίδιοι οι σύμμαχοί της είναι δυνατόν να την αντιστρέφουν εναντίον της.
